Iftar and Prayer Mahfil Held at Royal University of Dhaka

Dhaka, Friday: Royal University of Dhaka (RUD) hosted a grand Iftar and prayer Mahfil on its campus in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. The event took place at the university’s fourth-floor auditorium, with a significant presence of students, faculty members, and administrative staff.

The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. A.N.M. Meshquat Uddin, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was further honored by the presence of Retired Brigadier General A.S.M. Mushfiqur Rahman, Registrar of RUD, Professor Dr. Abu Bakar Siddique (Dipu), Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Professor Amir-ul-Alam Khan, Controller of Examinations. Representing the students, Nizamul Azim from the Business Administration Department delivered a speech.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Meshquat Uddin emphasized the importance of moral and ethical values in education, highlighting the true essence of fasting. “Fasting teaches self-restraint. Through self-discipline, one can develop into a truly virtuous individual,” he remarked. He encouraged students to attend classes regularly and strive to become responsible citizens. Furthermore, he urged the faculty and students to work together in elevating the university to international standards.

Registrar Brigadier General (Retd.) A.S.M. Mushfiqur Rahman praised the systematic and disciplined progress of the university, stating that such dedication would lead to the achievement of its desired goals. He also encouraged all attendees to enhance the university’s presence on social media.

Professor Dr. Abu Bakar Siddique (Dipu), Dean of the Faculty of Arts, cited the Encyclopaedia Britannica, noting that fasting, though practiced differently across cultures, is universally recognized in all major religions. He urged everyone to carry forward the spirit of unity displayed at the Mahfil and to remain dedicated to promoting the university.

The speech on behalf of the students was delivered by Nizamul Azim, a student of the Business Administration Department.

On behalf of the students, Nizamul Azim from the BBA Department requested the university administration to organize a convocation and intensify promotional activities to enhance RUD’s reputation.

Special appreciation was extended to Chairperson of the English Department, Jaharat Ara, and Assistant Professor Md. Obaidur Rahman of the BBA Department, along with student volunteers, for their efforts in organizing the event. The university also expressed gratitude to the Board of Trustees and Premier Bank PLC for their financial support. The event was moderated by Lecturer Md. Arif Hossain from the BBA Department.

The program concluded with a heartfelt prayer and supplication led by  Lecturer Sakib Hasan from the BBA Department, whose soulful recitation from the Quran captivated the attendees.
