Discussion meeting commemorating the March 25 Genocide and Independence Day at RUD

Dr. Dipu Siddiqui: Professor Dr Mesbah Kamal,Vice-Chancellor of Royal University of Dhaka, demanded international recognition of the genocide on March 25th. He made this demand on March 25, 2024, Monday at 11:00 am in Tejgaon at Royal University of Dhaka during a discussion meeting commemorating the March 25 Genocide and Independence Day.

Mohammad Manjurul Islam, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of TV Channel DBC, delivered a speech as the chief guest during the meeting marking 25 months of Genocide and Independence Day.

 

Acting Vice-Chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Prafulla Chandra Sarkar, freedom fighter Zahir Uddin Jalal (Vicchu Jalal), and Royal University Registrar Brigadier General (Retd.) Mushfiqur Rahman participated in the discussion.

 

Valiant freedom fighter Bicchu Jalal presented the direct history of the liberation war to the students, evoking tears from both teachers and students.

 

Manjurul Islam stated that the history of independence of this country has been distorted for 28 years and emphasized that the genocide did not end on March 25, rather it began with a massacre on that day.

 

Presiding over the discussion, Dr. Mesbah Kamal, Vice-Chancellor of Royal University of Dhaka, highlighted the importance of understanding the 214 years of slavery and demanded international recognition of the genocide. He stressed the need for students to be familiar with Bangladesh, Bengali literature, and the history of the liberation war. The audience was deeply moved by Prof. Kamal’s poignant account of the brutal events of March 25.

Professor Dr. Prafulla Chandra Sarkar asserted that Bangladesh was the first victim of genocide in the world, with the Pakistani junta brutally killing three million people and torturing two million mothers and sisters.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Mushfiqur Rahman attributed Bangladesh’s independence to the strategic political leadership of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 

Following the discussion, the invited guests were honored with mementos, and prizes were awarded to the winners of the essay competition on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh.

The program was moderated by Malbika Majumder, coordinator of the English Department of Royal University of Dhaka, and was attended by teachers, officers, and employees from various university departments.
