Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in BNCC
PressWatch report;Dhaka, October 28 — Eminent educationist Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, a Grade-1 Professor at the University of Dhaka, has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), effective retroactively from December 24, 2020. The Ministry of Defense issued the promotion notice on October 23, recognizing his contributions in academia and military training.
Bangladeshi Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In a notification issued by the Ministry of Defense on October 23, the promotion was granted to Dr. Kalimullah, a Major in the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), based on Chapter III and Appendix VII of the Indian Territorial Force Regulations, 1940, and Rule 237 of the Bangladesh Army Regulations (Rules), with the promotion date set retroactively to December 24, 2020.
On Monday, October 28, Brigadier General Mizan, Director General of BNCC, and Lieutenant Colonel Qader, Regiment Commander of the Ramna Regiment, presented Dr. Kalimullah with his rank insignia.
Dr. Kalimullah completed his pre-commission course at the Bangladesh Military Academy, Bhatiari, in 2002. Currently, he serves as Battalion Commander in the Ramna Regiment and is a Grade-1 Professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Dhaka. Additionally, he was the fourth Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and the first Pro Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
In recognition of his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, leaders from various sectors,
including Dr. Dipu Siddiqi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Royal University of Dhaka and Vice President of the PIB Journalism Alumni Association, extended their congratulations to Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
